Jewelry Camp
5-Day Art Camp for ages 7-13
July 9-13, 1-4pm
Instructor(s): Shannon Driscoll, Shoshannah Frank, Lyndsey Rieple, and Ariel Saldivar
In this special camp students will learn how to design and make jewelry in a variety of media, including clay, leather, paper, wood, stone and metal. We will look to NATURE for our inspiration and learn from expert local jewelery designers. The Monday camp will start with a discussion about what it means to design a "line" of jewelry with guest teachers Shoshannah Frank and Casey Melton of F is for Frank. F. is for Frank will teach students how to make a small sculptural pendant that will be used to make a mold for a pewter charm. Lyndsey Rieple of LyndseyLoo will join us on Tuesday. Lindsey will explore the wonders of using objects found in nature like leather, shells, wood, bone and more. Clay will be used on Wednesday to make studies of leaf impressions and other objects from nature. The clay studies will be used to create beautiful amulets. On Thursday, Ariel Saldivar of Olivia k Jewelry will bring her collection of rare minerals and stones and teach a bit of geology with a discussion about DIAMONDS. Students will paint a water color study of sliced a sliced geode and then use crystals to create a magical necklace. Students will make a "look book", packaging, tags and showcase their work on Friday. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from these talented, kind and creative women.
