Long Stitch Books!

Join us this Friday for the next installment of our bookbinding series. Take one or more of our ongoing bookbinding series and create a model collection of book structures. This is a versatile book structure that lends itself to books designed and printed on standard-sized papers. Writers, artists and book binders can modify this structure to meet their needs. The long stitch book structure dates from the 14th century. These books provide a non-adhesive, mechanical tight back that has a full and easy opening despite a rigid spine. We purchased this beautiful French paper from our favorite local paper merchant, Paper Arts. The paper looks like a 1950's kitchen floor. Sweet! Click here to register.

Papel Picado...

Yesterday was spent exploring the art of papel picado. Thanks to our nomadic helpers, Hailie and Marla. Look out for these gals in Marfa this weekend!
In preparation for our fall classes at Bows and Arrows we made a string of papel picado and big dream catchers. Leather cut-outs, feathers, painted sticks and magnolia pods were used to decorate the dream catchers. Contact Alica and Adam at Bows and Arrows to register!

YAY...Clay!

This weekend we had our first open clay workshop! Join us for the Family That Paints Together this Saturday from 10am to 11am!
This Saturday join us for the second part of our fibers series on felting. Felt is the oldest textile known to man, and has been created for centuries all over the world for use as clothing, shelter, rugs, and art. Participate in this non-woven fabric making legacy. Lizzy has developed a four part workshop series that will explore the traditions and process of felting from dying wool rovings to using felt to draw, build and as a way to create both decorative and functional objects. This class will explore hand dyeing of wool. Students interested in gaining a deeper understanding of this versatile art material should consider registering for the full four part series.
